Up for sale is a vintage Altaïr Watch Co. This is a Swiss-made, 17-jewel movement stamped “UNADJUSTED, ” with “ALTAÏR WATCH” and “SEVENTEEN” jewels engraved across the plate, and “17 JEWELS” and “SWISS” stamped along the edge. Two ruby jewels are visible near the balance assembly, with additional jewels in the gear train. The balance wheel, regulator (with +/- fine adjustment marks), and winding/setting mechanism are all present. The dial plate is stamped 14K, indicating solid 14-karat gold rather than gold-filled or gold-tone plating. It has a brushed rectangular Art Deco/tank shape with cut corners, and no printed numerals – instead, 12 raised metal stud markers (arranged in two columns of six) serve as hour markers. Both the hour and minute hands are present and intact, gold-tone, currently resting near the 10-11 o’clock position. The winding crown and stem are present and intact. There is no outer watch case, crystal, or strap included – this is the movement and dial assembly only. The movement does not currently run. No rust is present. Measurements: based on a reference photo taken against a 1-inch grid, the movement/dial assembly measures approximately 1 inch (about 25mm) long and roughly 0.45 inch (about 11mm) wide.
