Rare oversize (37mm) Calatrava-esque Longines with unpolished case. This is a beautiful watch. The dial shows extensive damage but it gives it a lot of charm when worn on the wrist (it almost looks as if a map has been printed on the dial). This watch comes from the heydays of Longines watchmaking (1946). Longines of 37mm diameter from the 40s are exceedingly rare. The case is unpolished with elegant downturned lugs. The watch runs but has not been tested for accuracy so it should probably see a watchmaker. I asked Longines if they had any info on this watch and here is their response. The original serial number 6’947’702 identifies a wristwatch in stainless steel bearing the reference 4915. It is fitted with a Longines manually wound mechanical movement, caliber 12.68Z and was invoiced on 9 March 1946 to the company Girod, which was at that time our agent for Spain.
