The manual wind movement does not run as the crown is fully wound. The time can be smoothly set. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1970’s Andre Bouchard diver has under the heavily damaged crystal a lovely but not perfect glossy black dial. The lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow on only the dial, has aged gracefully. The black fat font countdown bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely with the marbled butterscotch lume dot complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel lugholes case shows honest wear with signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “ALL STAINLESS STEEL SHOCKRESISTANT ANTIMAGNETIC” with “100% WATERPROOF AND CONDENSATION PROOF TESTED TO A DEPTH OF 600 FEET” stamped along the inner edge and “216551” and “TK” stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped CASE MADE IN FRANCE. The crystal needs to be replaced as it shows haziness and significant gouging. The 17 jewels “STANDARD TIME” stamped manual wind movement does not run as the non-screwdown crown is fully wound. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 48 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
