He movement does not run, the crown/stem separates and cannot be wound nor can the hands be moved. A complete overhaul is required. This vintage 1960’s North Star diver has a black “FRANCE” only signed dial that shows considerable wear and signs of rust. The lume on the dial and hands no longer glows after being exposed to bright light. While the lume on the dial has aged to a warm buttermilk hue the lume on the hands has aged more deeply. The metal hands show oxidation. The faded black bezel, which shows wear and rotates stiffly bidirectionally, presents nicely. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “WATERPROOF – ANTIMAGNETIC – ALL STAINLESS STEEL” with “100% WATERPROOF” followed by “TESTED 15 ATMOSPHERES” and “501142” stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped E. GLUCK TRADING Co” followed by “FRANCE. The crystal should be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted France E. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 19.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.75 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
