Additionally, the dial rotates which likely indicates that the dial feet are either broken or missing. Furthermore the case back does not appear to be original to the mid-case and does not fully screw down. Lastly the bezel does not rotate. This vintage Waltham day-date has a lovely silver satin “T SWISS T” signed dial that shows some wear and rotates, likely suggesting that the dial feet are either broken or missing. The lume no longer glows after being exposed to bright light. The bezel, which does not rotate, has aged beautifully and is, in my humble opinion, the highlight of this watch. The all stainless steel case shows minor wear with no signs of oxidation. The case back, which does not appear to be original to this watch and does not fully screw down, is stamped “WATER RESISTANT INCABLOC ANTIMAGNETIC AUTOMATIC” along the outer edge and “STAINLESS STEEL” followed by “SWISS MADE” stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped “SEARS ROEBUCK” followed by “SWISS MADE” and 10 577. ” Between the lugs at 6 o’clock are the stamped numbers “14961. The crystal needs be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss “WALTHAM WATCH Co” stamped AS 1906 automatic movement runs. However, because the crown and stem are missing the watch needs to be gently spun face down on a soft, flat surface to jump start the seconds hand. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
