From a watch repairman’s estate! An antique cylinder, presumed quarter 1/4 hour repeater, pocket watch movement. IN NEED OF REPAIR. The movement measures 44.52mm diameter; (measuring just below the upper lip). The movement’s only writing is “953”. Presumed a serial number, to the top of the pillar plate. The movement is key wind & set. The winding arbor took about. 3 revolutions with a winding key and the balance wheel has ran for over 5 hours now. I put the key on the hand setting arbor and. I could NOT easily turn it in either direction; so I did NOT force anything; I put a mark on the hour and minute wheel. To check and see if they are turning; they are NOT turning. I could NOT test anything with the repeater function; I did NOT hear or see any of the mechanism engage or move during the time. The watch was running. There are 2 repeater hammers; one is spring loaded and when lifted will rebound and hit the gong. With a nice sound. The other hammer does NOT have any spring tension. The overall thickness (as measured at the center) is 8.01mm. The maximum outer diameter of the pillar plate is 45.25mm. There is some LOSS to the plating and corrosion. To one of the hammers and the two gongs. The 46.27mm diameter screw-down white enamel dial has black Roman numerals and has NO writing on the dial front.
