While the screwdown crown unscrews and screws back down perfectly as it should, the time can be set without issue, the hacking feature works and the movement runs strong, keeping accurate time, the digital features function sporadically. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. Given this and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This vintage Chronosport UDT Sea Quartz has a matte black dial that is in pristine condition, free of any scratching, tool marks, chipping or defects. The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged beautifully. The black bezel, which ratchets counterclockwise, looks great. The coated all stainless steel case is in wonderful condition with the exception of some loss of coating. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “20 ATM ALL STAINLESS STEEL” followed by “25320” and “80 191″ stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped BREITLING SWISS CASE BATTERY 7,9 x 3,6 HD SR 41 W. The crystal is nearly blemish free. The 2 jewels unadjusted Japan “BREITLING” stamped quartz controlled hacking movement runs strong and keeps accurate time. However, the digital features work, at best, sporadically. Occasionally all the digital features, including the alarm and night light, work great. Other times they all get confused, freeze up and or go haywire. This watch measures approximately 41 mm excluding the crown, approximately 45 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10.5 mm. The crystal adds no measurable thickness. The coated all stainless steel band with “Expandro” stamped clasp and Chronosport emblem stamped buckle is in excellent condition other than some loss of coating. Once the clasp is snapped shut it tends to be quite difficult to reopen. I’ve got an approximate 6.5 inch wrist and with the clasp set on the loosest setting this band fits my wrist perfectly. No spare links are included. So if you have a wrist that is larger than approximately 6.5 inches this band will likely not fit you comfortably. Although the analog portion of the movement is currently running strong and keeping accurate time, the digital features work, at best, sporadically. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
