FOR PARTS/REPAIR – The AS 1701 automatic movement does not run. The roulette date wheel rolls over as it should, the time can be set without issue and the non-screwdown crown winds smoothly. The bezel rotates too freely. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1960’s Nastrix, who was an American importer of French and Swiss watches and related parts during this time, has under the damaged crystal a lovely but not perfect glossy black dial as it shows wear. The original lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The black countdown bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally too freely, presents nicely with the aged lume dot complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with visibly insignificant signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “ANTIMAGNETIC STAINLESS STEEL CASE BASE METAL INDICATOR SHOCKRESISTANT” with “TESTED TO A DEPTH OF 600 FEET 100% WATERPROOF AND CONDENSATION PROOF” stamped along the inner edge and “SWISS MADE” and “TK” stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped T. Co” followed by “SWISS CASE. The crystal should be replaced as it shows scratching and difficult to see micro-fractures as well as significant dust/debris on its underbelly. The 17 jewels unadjusted France NASTRIX CORP. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. The time can be set without issue and the non-screwdown crown winds smoothly. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 48 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
