FOR PARTS/REPAIR – The automatic movement does not run. While the crown/stem is intact when the crown is pulled out and pushed back in as well as when the time is set the dial moves which has caused chipping around its edges. Both the day and date wheels roll over as they should. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1973 Bulova has a “-T SWISS T-” signed dial that shows wear, most notably chipping around the edges as it moves when the crown is pulled out and pushed back in as well as when the time is set. The lume, which is fully intact with the exception of the minute hand, emits a quick burst glow on only the dial after being exposed to bright light. The black bezel, which shows wear and rotates. Bidirectionally, presents nicely with the toasted butterscotch inverted lume triangle complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “BULOVA STAINLESS STEEL 666 FEET” with “448844” and “N3″ stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped “R/” followed by “7515” and SWISS. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 23 jewels unadjusted Swiss “BULOVA WATCH Co” and “11 AOACB” stamped automatic movement does not run. The quickset date function, which should work by pulling the crown out and pushing it back in, does not. And when the signed crown is flush with the case (first position) it turns the hands rather than allowing the movement to be wound. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.

FOR PARTS/REPAIR – The manual wind movement runs strong, albeit slow, losing about 50 minutes by the end of its approximate 41 hour power reserve period. The bezel insert is missing. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This vintage 1975 Bulova Caravelle diver has under the heavily scratched/gouged crystal a lovely black “T” signed and the original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. The vibrant orange seconds hand, which shows no chipping or signs of paint loss, adds oodles of character. Although the bezel rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension the bezel insert is missing. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “CARAVELLE SHOCK RESISTANT WATER-RESISTANT TO 666 FEET STAINLESS STEEL ANTI MAGNETIC” with “N5″ stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped “3286-DP” followed by “CARAVELLE DIV, “B. ” and “TAIWAN The crystal shows heavy scratching/gouging. The 17 jewels unadjusted “N5″ and “IIDP” stamped manual wind movement runs strong, albeit slow. FOR PARTS/REPAIR – The manual wind movement runs about 2 minutes fast by the end of its approximate 42 hour power reserve period. The time sets without issue and the crown winds smoothly. The bezel spins freely with no friction and it’s loose. The hands appear to be early replacements. This vintage 1966 Caravelle diver has a matte black “T JAPAN T” signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows wear. The lume, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a perfectly matching golden buttermilk hue. The black bezel, which shows considerable wear, rotates freely bidirectionally with no friction and it’s loose. I have not removed it so I’m unsure whether it simply needs a tension spring or if it needs to be repaired/replaced… The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with visibly insignificant signs of oxidation. The inside of the case back is stamped 637. The crystal should be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Japan “CARAVELLE WATCH, “”IIDP” and “M7″ stamped manual wind movement runs strong, albeit fast.
