FOR PARTS/REPAIR – The automatic movement does not run. While the crown/stem is intact when the crown is pulled out and pushed back in as well as when the time is set the dial moves which has caused chipping around its edges. Both the day and date wheels roll over as they should. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1973 Bulova has a “-T SWISS T-” signed dial that shows wear, most notably chipping around the edges as it moves when the crown is pulled out and pushed back in as well as when the time is set. The lume, which is fully intact with the exception of the minute hand, emits a quick burst glow on only the dial after being exposed to bright light. The black bezel, which shows wear and rotates. Bidirectionally, presents nicely with the toasted butterscotch inverted lume triangle complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “BULOVA STAINLESS STEEL 666 FEET” with “448844” and “N3″ stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped “R/” followed by “7515” and SWISS. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 23 jewels unadjusted Swiss “BULOVA WATCH Co” and “11 AOACB” stamped automatic movement does not run. The quickset date function, which should work by pulling the crown out and pushing it back in, does not. And when the signed crown is flush with the case (first position) it turns the hands rather than allowing the movement to be wound. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. FOR PARTS/REPAIR – While the day and date wheels roll over automatically as they should and the movement runs strong with a healthy power reserve of approximately 37 hours, it does run nearly 5 minutes fast per hour. Given this and considering that the movement shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced a compete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1970’s Elgin day-date diver is an example of a watch that in my humble opinion looks markedly better in person. It has a matte black “T Swiss Made T” signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows difficult to see light wear. The original tritium on the dial, which is fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a golden buttermilk hue. The original tritium on the hands no longer glows and has aged a shade darker than the dial markers. This subtle contrast in patina between the dial and hands looks great. The vibrant orange seconds hand complements the dial beautifully. The silver/gray bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally, presents nicely. The all stainless steel case, which still retains its original brushed satin finish, shows honest wear and is free of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped “ELGIN” and “ALL STAINLESS STEEL SWISS” while the inside of the case back is stamped “ELGIN SWITZERLAND” followed by “M 280 Y” and 909 – 5004. The crystal should be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss “ELGIN” stamped FHF 909 automatic movement with quickset day and date functions is clean and runs strong, albeit fast. After winding the original non-screwdown “E” crown 30 full revolutions the movement ran nearly 5 minutes fast per hour over a healthy power reserve period of approximately 37 hours. Given that this watch is more than 45 years old, that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or movement), a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11 mm. The black 19 mm genuine MOD. SWISSMADE” Tropic strap with signature “ACIER buckle is pliable and free of any cracks/rips. Given the vintage nature of this watch, that it is running fast and considering the movement’s unknown service history, a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1971 Caravelle, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a pristine blue “T SWISS T” signed dial and the original lume, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a toasted buttermilk hue. The vibrant orange seconds hand shows no paint loss. The fixed, fluted bezel presents nicely. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “CARAVELLE – SHOCK RESISTANT – STAINLESS STEEL – AUTOMATIC – ANTI MAGNETIC – WATER RESISTANT” with “N1″ stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped “MXF” followed by “824, “”CARAVELLE WATCH DIVISION, “”BULOVA WATCH Co” and SWISS. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss “CARAVELLE WATCH” and “N1″ stamped AS 1916 automatic movement with semi-quickset date function does not run. Although the AS 1914 manual wind movement keeps accurate time over an approximate 40 hour power reserve period and both the day and date wheels roll over as they should the crown is on unevenly. Although the crown/stem connection is solid occasionally the stem doesn’t want to engage the hands to set the time. When this happens I’ll push the crown in, pull it back out and then turn it again. Or I’ll simply continue to turn the crown until the stem reengages the hands. While the crown winds without issue it turns a bit rough when setting the time. Given the crown/stem issue and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1970’s Helbros diver, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a satin blue “SWISS” only signed dial that shows age-related wear and the original lume, which emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The faded bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely. The all stainless steel lugholes case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped “ALL STAINLESS STEEL WEST GERMANY” with the inside of the case back being stamped HELBROS WATCHES. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss “ELGIN 338″ stamped AS 1914 manual wind movement with quickset date function keeps accurate time and both the day and date wheels roll over as they should. The quickset date function usually works consistently by pressing in on the crown. Occasionally it won’t so I’ll manually roll over a new day/date and then try the quickset function again. This seldom seen vintage 1970’s Tressa, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a silver satin “SWISS MADE” signed dial that under the damaged crystal appears to be in near pristine condition. Majority, if not all, of the imperfections seen are on the outside and underbelly of the crystal. The black lume, which I suspect is original, does not glow when exposed to bright light. In my humble opinion the vibrant powder blue seconds hand complements the dial and lume beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows significant wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “WATERPROOF INCABLOC AUTOMATIC STAINLESS STEEL SWISS MADE” with “TRESSA” followed by “SWISS” stamped in the center. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 17 jewels Swiss “CAMY” signed ETA 2788-1 automatic movement with quickset date function runs strong, albeit slow, with both the day and date wheels rolling over as they should. As clearly seen in the tenth picture the oscillating weight is loose. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling out the bottom, non-screwdown “CAMY” signed crown to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. This particular movement does not have a quickset day function, requiring that the hands be manually turned 24 hours to advance. After winding the bottom crown 39 full revolutions the movement ran nearly 6 minutes slow by the end of its approximate 45 hour power reserve period. This crown winds smoothly. The top crown, which is a replacement, is there to control the inner bezel, which is missing. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41 mm including the bottom crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm.
