For restoration or to be harvested for its parts as the movement likely does not run given its condition. Additionally it’s difficult to set the time and the dial moves when doing so. This vintage Chronosport Breitling UDT Sea Quartz has a matte black “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial that shows discoloration and considerable wear, particularly around the edges. The lume on the dial and hands, which no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. Please note that while nearly visually imperceptible in person some lume is missing on the minute hand, which can be seen in the pictures. The black bezel, which ratchets counterclockwise, looks great with the lume pip complementing the patina on the dial and hands nicely. The coated all stainless steel Monnin case is in good condition with the exception of some loss of coating. The outer edge of the case back is stamped 20 ATM. ALL STAINLESS STEEL SWISS MADE” with “80190” and “9682 stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped “BREITLING GENEVE” followed by “BREVET + 503305, “M. The crystal shows scratching and gouging. The Breitling stamped quartz controlled movement likely does not work given its poor condition. It’s probable that the movement will need to be replaced. And while the screwdown crown unscrews and screws back down perfectly as it should, setting the time is difficult and the dial moves when trying to do so. This watch measures approximately 41 mm excluding the crown, approximately 45.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10.5 mm. The crystal adds no measurable thickness. Because the movement likely does not run and will need to be replaced and the time is difficult to set with the dial moving when trying to do so, a complete restoration is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. FOR PARTS OR REPAIR – While the day, date and time can be set without issue the movement does not run despite having recently replaced the battery. A repair and or movement replacement will be required. This vintage Chronosport Sea Quartz 1000 has a lovely matte black dial and handset combination that is unlike any other I’ve seen on this model. Since I do not know the history of this watch the dial and handset may be an early, less commonly seen variant or they may be replacements. A fellow eBayer graciously told me that it is the former but without being the original owner I’m unable to confirm this. The dial and hands do not glow in the dark without first being exposed to light but will emit a soft glow once they are. The original black bakelite bezel with tritium that has aged to a tangerine hue ratchets unidirectionally counterclockwise, complements the case beautifully and in my humble opinion looks much better in person than in the pictures. The original black coated heavy duty all stainless steel Monnin case is in good condition, showing wear and some dings but no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “ALL STAINLESS STEEL SWISS MADE 30 ATM / 1000 FEET” with “3128” followed by the Chronosport emblem and very faint numbers which I believe to be “871933” stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped “BREVET +” followed by M. SA, SWITZERLAND, CHRONOSPORT, INC. SWISS” and “1.005.0.0.62. The crystal shows scratching and some dings. The ETA 955124 quartz movement, which according to the service history dating back to 2001 may have been a movement replacement done in 2007, does not work. I replaced the Renata 371 button battery that was installed when it came to me with an Energizer 371 battery. Unfortunately this did not get the movement going. A skilled watchmaker will either need to repair this movement or replace it entirely. The day wheel is in both English and Spanish and the quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling the scewdown crown out to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached.
