FOR PARTS/REPAIR – The Lorsa P75 manual wind movement will run for a few seconds at a time only after the watch has been gently spun face down on a flat surface. Although the date and time can be set the crown is fully wound, likely suggesting that the mainspring needs to be replaced. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This vintage 1960/70’s Swank diver has under the heavily worn crystal a lovely naturally aged blue “GERMANY” signed dial. The lume on the dial and hands, which no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged evenly. The black bezel, which in my humble opinion is the highlight of this watch, shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear and minor signs of brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “SWANK 17 JEWELS” with “STAINLESS” and “STEEL BACK” stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped SWANK INC. The crystal should be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted “GERMANY” and “SWANK” stamped Lorsa P75 manual wind movement with semi-quickset date function will run for a few seconds at a time only after the watch has been gently spun face down on a flat surface. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. A complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10.5 mm. The crystal adds no measurable increase in thickness. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 43 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. While the date and time can be set without issue and the crown winds beautifully, the movement runs sporadically. I’ve observed it running strong and keeping accurate time for more than a 24 hour period on multiple occasions but I’ve also observed it stop inconsistently at other times. A complete overhaul is needed. This vintage Paul Le Grande has a black “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial that has aged beautifully. In my humble opinion the pictures don’t do it justice as its unique starry night landscape is truly special. The lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The all stainless steel bezel, which rotates smoothly bidirectionally, looks good. The all stainless steel case is in excellent condition showing minor wear and oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped “SHOCKPROTECTED WATERPRESSURE TESTED 666 FEET INCABLOC” with “ALL STAINLESS STEEL” followed by “SWISS MADE, “”679″ and 890760. The crystal shows light scratching and some dust/debris on its underbelly. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches that I put up for sale, the case back on this one is torqued too tight for me to remove. A skilled watchmaker will have no problems doing so. The automatic movement with quickset date function runs but does so sporadically. I’ve observed it run continuously, keeping accurate time over an approximate 25 hour power reserve period. I’ve also observed it stop inconsistently , but always start back up when the time is reset and with a few additional winds of the crown. The quickset date function works flawlessly but manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. The crown winds buttery smooth. Given that the movement runs sporadically a complete overhaul is needed. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10 mm. FOR REPAIR – while the day and date wheels roll over as they should, the seconds hand will move occasionally when setting the time and the crown can be wound without issue, the movement does not run. Considering that it’s likely that the movement has never been serviced a complete overhaul is required. This Helbros diver has a blue satin “GERMANY” signed dial that has aged naturally and uniquely. The way the dial has aged is not the result of water damage but rather due to a defect in the paint. I’ve had a number of Tudor’s that have aged in a similar fashion. In my humble opinion I think the dial is awesome and looks much better in person than in the pictures. The original lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged beautifully. The bezel, which rotates smoothly bidirectionally, shows wear. The all stainless steel case with lugholes is in wonderful condition showing minor wear, no visibly noticeable dents or dings and no signs of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped “ALL STAINLESS STEEL WEST GERMANY” while the inside of the case back is stamped HELBROS WATCHES. The crystal shows light scratching. The 17 jewels unadjusted “GERMANY” and “HELBROS WATCHES” stamped PUW 1564 automatic movement with quickset date function appears to be in untouched condition. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pressing in on the crown. Given that the movement does not run and considering that it likely has never been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement), a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. Given that the movement does not run and considering that it likely has never been serviced a complete overhaul is required.
