FOR PARTS/REPAIR – Although. The movement keeps accurate time over an approximate 31 hour power reserve period the date wheel does not roll over and the stem occasionally detaches. It reattaches when pushed back in. Given these issues and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This vintage 1960’s Mortima SuperDatomatic diver has a black “MADE FRANCE” signed dial that shows considerable wear and the lume does not glow after being exposed to bright light. The black bezel, which shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents nicely. The chrome-plated case shows significant wear and brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “WATERPROOF STAINLESS STEEL BACK” with “MORTIMA” and “DELUXE” stamped along the inner edge. The crystal shows scratching. The 17 jewels Cattin C66 manual wind movement runs and keeps accurate time. However, the date wheel does not roll over and occasionally the stem detaches. After winding the non-screwdown crown 15 full revolutions the movement had a power reserve of approximately 31 hours. Given the issues mentioned and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 41.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10 mm. Given that the date wheel does not roll over, the stem occasionally detaches and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
