FOR PARTS/REPAIR – The ETA 2872 automatic movement will briefly run only after the watch is gently spun face down on a soft, flat surface. While the crown unscrews and screws back down perfectly as it should the stem does not engage the movement so the time can’t be set, the date tested or the crown wound (winds with no friction). The movement had been working without issue prior to the problem with the stem. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1970’s Chronosport, which came from the estate of its original owner, has a pristine blue “SWISS MADE” signed dial and the original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The blue bezel, which ratchets counterclockwise, shows light wear with the inverted triangle lume complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back, which may have retained its original sticker, is stamped “WATERRESISTANT SHOCKRESISTANT STAINLESS STEEL SWISS MADE 20 ATMOS” with “3006” followed by “125 17″ stamped in the center. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss “CHRONOSPORT” stamped ETA 2872 automatic movement will briefly run only after the watch is gently spun face down on a soft, flat surface. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11.5 mm. Given that the stem does not engage the movement at a minimum a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 16 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.

Up for sale is a vintage gents or ladies DIVER’s watches lot including case parts, in as found condition, for parts or repairs. Perego + Festina, both running ETA 2824 movements. Both tick away, may only need service. One Royce diver with bakelite bezel with ETA 2873. Portex SUBSTAR (with a similar SQUALE MEDIUM case spec) very clean and nice diver also featuring a serviced ETA 2873 movement. Aurore looks like a ETA 2824 did not check thoroughly, balance turns freely. LOV AQUA Sport french diver featuring a FE movement you see in YEMA Superman. MATY jumbo cased diver with quartz movement. Movement ticks away but the stem needs attention. Claude Helier quartz featuring a large MONNIN 844 style case with screw in crown and back which ticks away. Pierre BONNET ETA 2824 diver in running condition. Mido nice AS movement but recased at some point. JUTA lovely integrated bracelet diver of most likely german origin. Deep Sea quartz MONNIN style case no back to it and not tested to see if it runs. A nice BOR bracelet ladies diver, works nice but lume has flaked from the minute hand, needs to be worked out. A couple other JUMBO divers cases like the one with the escape valve for various ETA or Felsa movements divers of the 1960’s or the french 2727 case with large crown guards. Nice shapes, and different styles and periods. Price is per entire lot. You will receive exactly what you see in photos.
