Scarce WW2 Era Military Mid-Size Wristwatch. Rare “monobloc” waterproof stainless steel case, scratches, uncleaned, unbuffed. No reference number, only marked “Stainless Steel” inside. No personal markings on back. 30.3 mm wide x 36.6 mm tall x 12.2 mm thick. Missing stem and crown. “Radial” dial has lots of patina, 100% original Original hands & sweep second, missing some lume. This recent find comes from Estate of Retired Dentist and is a Vintage WW2 1944 “HACK” U. MILITARY MEN’S WATCH – see details below. Black Dial/White Arabic Numeral Indices. Seconds Indices (10/20/30/40/50/60) on outer part of dial (bezel makes it harder to see them, but visible – see pictures). I’ve been able to get to run, but stops after a couple seconds. Watch needs service and probably a new mainspring. This is a British military chronograph that needs a repair. Watchmaker had been working on this a while. Final thoughts from him prior to returning. For what it’s worth, my final thoughts on the Venus are that is IS a gear train issue, stopping the power getting through from the mainspring – although it could be the mainspring/barrel itself. When it was stopped fully wound I forced the crown and it ran, so that suggests that something is stopping the power getting through the gear train to the escapement. Weird though because when it ran it ran very well. However, after removing and replacing all the chronograph works 5 or 6 times to try and diagnose the cause I kind of lost heart, but maybe someone else can pick that up and figure out the problem.
