As a result I’ve only observed the power reserve lasting for a few hours at a time despite winding the crown 39 full revolutions. A skilled watchmaker can source and install these missing parts. This rarely seen vintage Louis diver has oodles of character and is an interesting project. The “Ra SWISS MADE Ra” and “1.5 UC” signed dial shows age related wear. The original lume on the dial and hands emits a short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light. While the lume on the dial has developed a pistachio hue the hands have aged to a warm buttermilk patina. The black bezel, which rotates smoothly bidirectionally, looks great with a lume pip that has aged gracefully to a golden butterscotch hue. The all stainless steel case is in excellent condition, showing minor wear and free of any visibly significant dents. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “SUBMARINE CASE AUTOMATIC INCABLOC ALL STAINLESS STEEL SWISS” with “LOUIS” followed by “800 FEET – 20 ATM, “”SUPERWATERPROOF” and 26746. The crystal is in good shape but does have some dust/debris on its underbelly. Additionally some dust/debris has landed on the dial. The unadjusted AS 1712 automatic movement with quickset date function is clean, keeps accurate time and the quickset date function works flawlessly. The quickset date function works by rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. While the movement keeps accurate time, it’s missing its oscillating weight and the part that the oscillating weight sits on. As a result and despite winding the crown an average of 39 full revolutions on several occasions, the power reserve only lasts a few hours at a time. Given that this watch is approximately 45 years old, that the movement is missing its oscillating weight and the part it sits on and considering that the movement has an unknown service history, a complete overhaul is needed. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 13 mm. As mentioned above, given the vintage nature of this watch, that the movement is missing its oscillating weight and the part that the oscillating weight sits on and given its unknown service history, a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. We have no idea what the numbers mean, but we assume you do. The back of the watch has a small glass window to see the movement inside. There is a metal plate inside that turns with the motion of the person wearing it. We’re guessing this is how the watch winds itself. We have no idea what they call this type of watch. The watch is currently running, but there is no way to adjust the time on the watch because there is a missing button on the side of the watch. The side of the watch has the name “Louis Vuitton” etched into it. There is also an “LV” logo of the watch band. There are some scratches and wear to the watch and a few, but not terribly noticeable, scratches on the glass. We made no attempt to clean the watch. MEN’S LOUIS VUITTON CUP CHRONOGRAPH WATCH. This watch is a 100% authentic Louis Vuitton designer watch. The automatic mechanical movement is currently working and is keeping accurate time (no problems with the hour, minute, or second hands), but there are quite a few issues with the rest of the watch that will need someone to fix. First, the chronograph, or stopwatch counters, are not working correctly. On the left side, the small hand has fallen off inside, and you can see it moving around the dial under the crystal (still looks usable), so I truly do not know if that side is working correctly. Putting the hand back on should at least be a simple task once you open the watch. The right side, however, does not seem to be working correctly. The hand is in place, but when you press the bottom button it only moves very slightly. The center crown does set the time nicely, but the crown itself looks to be just a little crooked (no effect, but worth resetting into place better). The crystal on this watch will most likely need to be replaced. I’m not sure if a buffing will do the job, but the large scratches (that you can see in picture 6) do not look incredibly deep and all the way through like a full crack would be. It could be from the rough condition. This glare makes it very, very hard to see the actual watch face and dial. The dial color is brown, and can be quite hard to read in bad light. This is why many of my pictures are at an angle. The dial and everything below the crystal look to be in excellent shape, besides the loose hand. The stainless steel case and band are actually in good shape. There are no real dings or dents, and the stainless steel is very heavy and solidly made. They both do have light wear and scratches as it is a pre-owned watch, but this can easily be polished and buffed out if desired (it actually looks okay in my opinion). The band/bracelet will fit, approximately, a 7.25 inch wrist at the moment. I do not have any other links, or the box. The back of the watch is see through to the 31 jewel automatic movement. This skeleton design is true to the make and model of this watch, and it is not a replica. Other LV watches do have a solid back, but this model did not. The movement looks extremely clean. Overall, this watch is truly an amazing candidate to fix up. In my opinion, this watch probably went through the dryer… I’m not certain though. It’s unfortunate, but if you like to tinker and fix watches, this could be an absolute steal. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask, thanks!
