VINTAGE HARWOOD BY FORTIS 21 JEWEL WRIST WATCH – FOR PARTS OR REPAIR. Vintage Harwood by Fortis 21 Jewel Automatic Wrist Watch. This watch is incomplete, missing both the front and rear glass. Movement looks extremely clean and is running well, great for parts, repair, or restoration. In the 1920’s John Harwood Set Himself the task to create a wristwatch that would be better protected to dust & moisture. He developed a different mechanism for winding, to wind the watch the bezel is rotated, this led to the first self winding watch. Hardwood worked with Fortis to develop some special watches. This watch has a modified ETA Cal. The gold plated movement is marked: 9510 Swiss Twenty-One 21 Jewels Unadjusted 2892-2. Features a circle at the 6 o’clock that turns red to designate day/night. Case measures 34 mm in diameter, 37 mm including lugs. Back of case is stamped: FORTIS WATCH LTD N 1233 HARWOOD 1926 SWISS MADE 925. Gold plated bezel with sterling silver case.
