FOR PARTS/REPAIR – Although. The crown winds smoothly and the movement runs strong, keeping accurate time over an approximate 41 hour power reserve period, the date wheel does roll over. Additionally, when setting the time the crown has to be pulled out and held with tension while being turned otherwise the hands won’t move. Given this and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1970’s Sonora day-date diver has a glossy black “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as there is age-related wear and some peeling along the edges. The lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a warm buttermilk hue. The fat font bezel, which shows considerable wear and rotates bidirectionally with the appropriate amount of tension, has faded to a smoky black color. The all stainless steel case shows minor wear with visibly insignificant signs of oxidation. The crystal needs to be replaced as it is cracked along the edge near the 9 o’clock mark. However, the date wheel does not roll over and when setting the time the crown has to be pulled out and held with tension while being turned otherwise the hands won’t move. After recently winding the sharply threaded non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had a solid power reserve of approximately 41 hours. The crown winds smoothly. Given the issues mentioned and considering the movement’s unknown service history (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm. Given the mentioned issues and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. The case and Bezel are in very good condition, the bezel spins smoothly in both direction. The Chrono buttons are in good working condition. The snap back cover is missing. The movement is complete except the Chrono top part that’s needed for hand reset. The balance wheel is moving freely. The movement would need a cleaning. The crystal has a crack, I’m including it for size and shape reference, also comes with its tension ring. The crown is included and fully functional. Please refer to photos for condition.

FOR PARTS/REPAIR – Although the Baumgartner 158 automatic movement runs strong over the course of its approximate 41 hour power reserve period it loses several minutes. After winding the crown it’s necessary to gently spin the watch several times face down on a soft, flat surface in order to jump-start the seconds hand otherwise the movement won’t fire up. Additionally the bezel does not seat and will require manipulation to work properly. A complete overhaul is required. This vintage 1960/70’s Rene Rochard has black “SWISS MADE T” signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows age-related wear and chipping along the edge at 1 o’clock. The lume, which remains fully intact, emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light. The bezel, which shows wear, does not seat. It will require manipulation by a skilled watchmaker to work properly. The massive, beautifully cut chrome-plated case shows honest wear. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “STAINLESS STEEL BACK BASE METAL BEZEL SWISS MADE” with “8544 – 2529″ stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped “BADER LTD” followed by CASE SWISS MADE. The crystal shows scratching and significant dust/debris on its underbelly. The 1 jewel Swiss BADER LTD. ” and “BREVETS stamped Baumgartner 158 automatic movement runs strong, albeit slow, only after the crown has been wound and the watch then spun face down several times on a soft, flat surface. Otherwise the seconds hand won’t fire up. This movement does not have a quickset date function. After recently winding the non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions (and then spinning the watch face down several times) the movement ran several minutes slow by the end of its approximate 41 hour power reserve period. This watch measures approximately 40 mm excluding the crown, approximately 44 mm including the crown and approximately 19.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case is approximately 8 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 11 mm. Given that the movement needs a jump-start, runs slow and the bezel does not seat a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. This vintage 1970’s Lord Nelson Datomatic has a lovely matte black “SWISS MOVT HONG KONG MADE DIAL” signed dial and the original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The fat font bezel, which shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents nicely. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear with minor brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “5 ATM TESTED – BASE METAL BEZEL – STAINLESS STEEL BACK” with “HONG KONG CASE MANUFACTURED BY HUNG KEE METAL” stamped on the inside of the case back. The crystal shows scratching. The Swiss 1 jewel unadjusted “CONSTRUCTA WATCH LTD” manual wind movement is clean but runs fast. Although the red date wheels rolls over as it should there is no quickset option. After recently winding the brassed, non-screwdown crown 27 full revolutions the movement runs about 2 hour fast by the end of its approximate 22 hour power reserve period. Given that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. While the crown/stem is intact when the crown is pulled out and pushed back in as well as when the time is set the dial moves which has caused chipping around its edges. Both the day and date wheels roll over as they should. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1973 Bulova has a “-T SWISS T-” signed dial that shows wear, most notably chipping around the edges as it moves when the crown is pulled out and pushed back in as well as when the time is set. The lume, which is fully intact with the exception of the minute hand, emits a quick burst glow on only the dial after being exposed to bright light. The black bezel, which shows wear and rotates. Bidirectionally, presents nicely with the toasted butterscotch inverted lume triangle complementing the dial and patina beautifully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “BULOVA STAINLESS STEEL 666 FEET” with “448844” and “N3″ stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped “R/” followed by “7515” and SWISS. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 23 jewels unadjusted Swiss “BULOVA WATCH Co” and “11 AOACB” stamped automatic movement does not run. The quickset date function, which should work by pulling the crown out and pushing it back in, does not. And when the signed crown is flush with the case (first position) it turns the hands rather than allowing the movement to be wound. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Attractive teal/blue dial, original hands and bezel insert – a great candidate for a watchmaker, hobbyist modder, or parts/repair project. Movement needs service or replacement. Cosmetic wear consistent with age and use: scratches on the caseback and case, wear and scuffs on bezel insert and edges, some marks on crystal, and aged lume on markers/hands. Rubber strap is original and shows creasing and wear. Water resistance is not guaranteed – seals and gaskets not tested and movement is non-functional.
