FOR PARTS/REPAIR – Although. The date and time can be set without issue the manual wind movement runs about 2 hours fast by the end of its approximate 22 hour power reserve period. Given this and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This vintage 1970’s Lord Nelson Datomatic has a lovely matte black “SWISS MOVT HONG KONG MADE DIAL” signed dial and the original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The fat font bezel, which shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents nicely. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear with minor brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “5 ATM TESTED – BASE METAL BEZEL – STAINLESS STEEL BACK” with “HONG KONG CASE MANUFACTURED BY HUNG KEE METAL” stamped on the inside of the case back. The crystal shows scratching. The Swiss 1 jewel unadjusted “CONSTRUCTA WATCH LTD” manual wind movement is clean but runs fast. Although the red date wheels rolls over as it should there is no quickset option. After recently winding the brassed, non-screwdown crown 27 full revolutions the movement runs about 2 hour fast by the end of its approximate 22 hour power reserve period. Given that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 12.5 mm. Given that the movement runs fast a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
