Brand: ILLINOIS Watch Co. Model: “BUNN SPECIAL Type III 60 hours” ESTATE FIND, NOT RUNNING. 16 size, open face. Stem wind, lever set. Type III “60 hours” barrel. Adjusted to temperature & 6 positions. Model 14, grade “Bunn Special” (RAILROAD GRADE). Serial number: #5172170 (circa 1929). Movement looks clean, sets & winds, mainspring seems OK, but watch DOES NOT RUN. Balance staff is bad, wheel does not move freely. Fortune 10K gold filled. Has wear or brassing on edges from decades of use. Light dent on back cover & tiny scraches. Front bezel screws good, as for the back cover. Measures about 51.5 mm wide, by 60 mm tall, including crown, by 13.5 mm thick. (Roughly 2″ wide by 2.3″ tall by 0.56 thick). This is a used acrylic crystal that can be easily buffed. Pretty nice as is though. 12 hour arabic dial, Montgomery style. 42.5 mm diameter, double sunk. Has a few hairlines & a large chip near center hole. The serial number on the movement is 1497245, which according to the pocket watch database dates this watch to approximately 1899. The watch Winds, but does NOT Set or Run. The case is a Fahy’s Montauk Gold Filled etched case w/ a small monogram on the reverse. There are some hairline cracks on the dial. Also, the crystal has come loose and is being held in place with a piece of tape. The condition of the watch is nice otherwise. All watches I have listed are from a jewelry store buyout. I have about 10K – 20K watches and accessories to list over the next couple of years. Please ask questions as it will help me learn. Please use the picture of the item next to the quarter for size reference. A quarter is approx one inch in diameter, or 25mm. Diameter of the watch case east to west by north to south. This measurement does NOT include the crown. Does the watch work? Please be aware that I do not know if it keeps accurate time. I assume it will need to be serviced. Is the crystal glass or plastic? Does the crystal have scratches? Condition of the dial. One hairline at the 12 o’clock position and the 40 second position. Condition issues other than ordinary and normal use marks. Some of the gold is rubbing thin on the high spots and edges. For items with gem type stones. If we refer to a stone as a diamond, then it is a natural earth mined diamond. For all other stones, if you see the words “Natural” or “Earth mined” in the description, then the stones are natural. If those words are not present, please assume the stones are manmade as our tester cannot differentiate between the two. For items with stones like turquoise, coral, or lapis, etc. All stones will be natural unless we include the word faux. Then they are manmade.
