Overview: Classic Seiko Perpetual Calendar Scuba (Model: SBCM009, Reference: 8F35-0030) finished in stainless steel with a striking blue sunburst dial and magnified date at 3 o’clock. This is a Battery Quartz watch (caliber 8F35) built for everyday wear and diving-style looks with 200m water resistance marking on the dial. Date window at 3:00 with magnifier (cyclops) for easy date reading. Unidirectional bezel with 10/20/30/40/50 markings and luminous pip at 12 o’clock – classic dive-watch styling. Signed Seiko clasp and engraved Seahorse emblem on the stainless steel caseback (as shown in photos). Condition Details (honest, shown in images): – Overall condition: Used. The case and bracelet show light to moderate surface scratches and scuffs consistent with regular wear (visible in close-up photos of the lugs, bezel edge and clasp). Crystal & dial: Dial and hands are clean and the crystal appears clear with the cyclops date magnifier intact (no obvious deep chips visible in photos). FOR PARTS/REPAIR – The Lorsa P75 manual wind movement will run for a few seconds at a time only after the watch has been gently spun face down on a flat surface. Although the date and time can be set the crown is fully wound, likely suggesting that the mainspring needs to be replaced. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This vintage 1960/70’s Swank diver has under the heavily worn crystal a lovely naturally aged blue “GERMANY” signed dial. The lume on the dial and hands, which no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged evenly. The black bezel, which in my humble opinion is the highlight of this watch, shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear and minor signs of brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “SWANK 17 JEWELS” with “STAINLESS” and “STEEL BACK” stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped SWANK INC. The crystal should be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted “GERMANY” and “SWANK” stamped Lorsa P75 manual wind movement with semi-quickset date function will run for a few seconds at a time only after the watch has been gently spun face down on a flat surface. The semi-quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 21 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. A complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10.5 mm. The crystal adds no measurable increase in thickness. The lug to lug distance measures approximately 43 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
