A rare find from a watch repairmans’s estate! A high grade Swiss made Agassiz pocket watch movement with dial for REPAIR. The movement has some very detailed machining to the plates and measures 41.85mm diameter (measuring just below the upper lip). The serial number is’238539′, which is presumed circa 1920’s. The movement is stamped’AGASSIZ WATCH Co. SWISS, 21 TWENTY-ONE JEWELS, 7 SEVEN ADJUSTMENTS’. CADY & OLMSTEAD JEWELRY Co. The movement is designed to fit a’hunter’ style case with the crown located. At the 3 o’clock position. The movement has wolf tooth winding gears and swan neck regulator. The thickness of the movement from the upper dial surface to the top surface of the mainspring bridge is 7.85mm. Diameter of the upper lip (just below the dial) is 43.15mm. I put a winding tool into the square shaft and turned it; it did NOT engage the winding gears and the hand setting mechanism only engaged. For a split seconds, enough to advance the hands approximately 10 minutes (then I could NOT repeat that action again). See a shaft inside the hole that appears to be spring loaded and presses back against the winding tool broken stem?? The balance wheel swings from side to side and with a shake it will run for up to 30 seconds; with pressure to the third wheel the. Escapement will continue to run. I do NOT know how much power is in the mainspring. The white enamel dial has black Arabic numerals at the hours and red numerals at the 5 minute markers; with a sunk subsidiary. Seconds register, marked “SWISS” inside. The dial is marked, CADY & OLMSTEAD JEWELRY Co. I see NO hairlines or chips; there are several light scratches (most seen under magnification) and a heavier. Concentric scratch / scrape located approximately 1mm from the outer edge of the dial. Please see the detailed pictures. The hands are blued steel and are in good condition, with some loss to the bluing on the minute hand. Please see the detailed pictures for what is included and its condition.
