Given this and considering the movement’s unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This vintage 1970’s Lord Nelson Datomatic has a lovely matte black “SWISS MOVT HONG KONG MADE DIAL” signed dial and the original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The fat font bezel, which shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents nicely. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear with minor brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “5 ATM TESTED – BASE METAL BEZEL – STAINLESS STEEL BACK” with “HONG KONG CASE MANUFACTURED BY HUNG KEE METAL” stamped on the inside of the case back. The crystal shows scratching. The Swiss 1 jewel unadjusted “CONSTRUCTA WATCH LTD” manual wind movement is clean but runs fast. Although the red date wheels rolls over as it should there is no quickset option. After recently winding the brassed, non-screwdown crown 27 full revolutions the movement runs about 2 hour fast by the end of its approximate 22 hour power reserve period. FOR PARTS/REPAIR – Up until recently the manual wind movement lost about 2 minutes by the end of its approximate 38 hour power reserve period. However, after recently testing the watch again it ran for only about 10 minutes before stopping, fully wound. Despite being fully wound if clockwise pressure is momentarily applied to the crown the seconds hand will resume running for several seconds to several minutes or longer. If constant clockwise pressure is applied to the crown it appears that the seconds hand will run continuously, unwinding the mainspring. The dial moves and vacillates when the crown is pulled out, pushed back in and when the time is being set. Given the issues mentioned a complete overhaul is required. This vintage 1970’s Cardinal Rallye GT world time diver has a glossy black “SWISS MADE” signed dial that is in poor condition. The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a warm buttermilk hue. Both bezels, which show wear, rotate bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension. The chrome-plated case shows considerable wear and brassing. The outer edge of the case back is stamped WATERPROOF SWISS MADE STAINLESS STEEL BACK 200 VACUUM TESTED. The crystal needs to be replaced. While I normally shows pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back on this watch is torqued too tight for me to remove. Up until recently the manual wind movement ran about 2 minutes slow by the end of its approximate 38 hour power reserve period. It does not have a semi-quickset date function. Although the non-screwdown crown winds smoothly when it’s pulled out, pushed back in and when the time is being set the dial moves and vacillates. RADO Elegance, 1970s hand-wound mechanical watch, junk condition. Model number: 396.5013.4. The wrist size is approximately 6.18 inches. When wound, the watch hands start moving normally, but we have not checked the operating time after winding, time accuracy, or water resistance. It can be used as is, repaired, used as parts, or added to a collection. Maintenance has been limited to simple cleaning such as removing light dirt, so it will be delivered in its current condition. Everything in the image is included. Simple surface cleaning (wiping) has been done, but professional cleaning has not been done, so there may be signs of use, scratches, and dirt.

The black countdown bezel, which shows wear and does not rotate likely due to gunk underneath, presents nicely. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped with a picture of a diver followed by “STAINLESS STEEL” and 70 T. The crystal should be replaced. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back is torqued too tight for me to remove. The semi quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the crown 39 full revolutions on multiple occasions the seconds hand would only run for several seconds at a time. The approximate 5 mm screwdown crown unscrews and screws back down perfectly as it should and usually winds without issue. However, occasionally the crown doesn’t engage the stem while in the first/winding position but tends to reengage when it’s pulled out and then gently pushed back in. Given that the movement does not run as it should and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 42 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. The longest I’ve observed the movement running consistently was for nearly 10 minutes, during which it kept accurate time. Both the day and date wheels roll over as they should and the quickset date function works flawlessly. The crown turns a bit stiffly when setting the day, date and time. A complete overhaul is required. This vintage 1970’s Tempus has a pristine blue “T SWISS MADE T” signed dial and the lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The world time bezel, which shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents nicely. The chrome-plated case shows honest wear with minor brassing. The outside of the case back is stamped “SWISS MADE – SHOCKPROTECTED – AUTOMATIC – STAINLESS STEEL BACK” while the inside of the case back is stamped M. The crystal should be replaced. The 25 jewels Swiss “BREVETS” and MICHAEL Z. BERGER stamped Baumgartner 158 31/7 automatic movement with quickset date is clean and both the day and date wheels roll over as they should but does not run consistently for any extended period of time. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then repeatedly moving the hour hand between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. The brassed, non-screwdown crown winds smoothly. Given that the movement does not run consistently and considering its unknown service history (there is an undecipherable watchmaker service marking on the inside of the case back) a complete overhaul is required. At a minimum a complete overhaul is required. This seldom seen vintage 1970’s Bifora 115 diver has a matte black dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows light age-related wear and dust/debris on its surface. The lume, which emits a faint, short-lived glow on the dial after being exposed to bright light while the hands emit a quick burst glow, has aged to a toasted butterscotch hue on the dial with the hands having developed a subtle pistachio patina. In my humble opinion the lume on the hands appears as more of a buttermilk hue in person. The bezel, which rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, shows wear. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped “SKINDIVER ALL STAINLESS STEEL ANTIMAGNETIC SHOCKPROTECTED” with “100% WATERPROOF” followed by “TESTED” and “10 ATMOSPHERES” stamped in the center. The crystal shows scratching and dust/debris on its underbelly. The 17 jewels Bifora 115/1 manual wind movement does not run as the brassed replacement crown has broken off the stem. This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38 mm including the crown and approximately 17 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 7.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm. This watch comes on an unsigned bracelet with “100% Stainless Steel” stamped buckle/clasp showing little stretch. I’d guestimate that it may accommodate up to an approximate 7.5 inch wrist.
