FOR PARTS/REPAIR – While the time can be set without issue the movement does not run. According to my watchmaker the movement needs a complete balance, regulator w/spring and set wheel. No pictures of the movement will be provided, so assume there is no movement. A complete restoration/overhaul will be required. This vintage early Zodiac Sea Wolf has a white “SWISS” only signed dial that shows staining and wear. The lume, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The bezel, which in my humble opinion is the highlight of this watch, rotates smoothly bidirectionally and presents beautifully. The all stainless steel case is in good condition showing minor wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped “ZODIAC SEAWOLF WATER-TESTED 20 ATM ESPECIALLY” and between the lugs at 6 o’clock are the stamped numbers 1288077. The crystal needs to be replaced. The case back on Sea Wolf’s are notoriously difficult to remove and should be done by a skilled watchmaker familiar with how to do so in order to avoid causing damage. My watchmaker did look at the movement, letting me know it needs a complete balance, regulator with spring and a set wheel, along with an overhaul. While the Zodiac signed, non-screwdown crown pulls out and pushes back in as it should it winds with significant tension and shouldn’t be done in its current state. Given that this watch does not run a complete restoration/overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel is approximately 7 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
